Chocolate, Coffee & Cards – Sketch!

Hello, I’m back to let you know that there is a new challenge starting today over on the Chocolate, Coffee and Cards challenge blog.  And I’m letting you know because I was asked to become a DT member. Yipeee!

Lovely boss lady Joanne emailed me and I did not hesitate to say yes. What an awesome privilege to be part of another talented team. Wow, how lucky am I!  Someone pinch me! (Not hard though please, I bruise easily!)

My fellow teamie Sam (check out her amazing creations here, she is a colourist supreme) recommended me, thank you lovey you are a star, and I have been grinning ever since!

So enough waffle from me what did I make for my first DT post?

Well this is a sketch challenge and here it is.

A fab layout don’t you think, no matter what your style is.

Well we had some beautiful images from our sponsor Whoopsi Daisy to work with and I used this gorgeous lady on a garden swing. See her here in their shop.

I printed my image onto Neenah Solar card and coloured her with my Pro & Flexmarkers (not very well I have to say (Sam, I need help!), adding Flowersoft to the tree for a ‘blossom’ look.

The papers are LOTV Country Lady, rather appropriate I thought, and I matted with brown card and distressed to give a vintage feel.

I followed the sketch to the letter and did not add much embellishment apart from the crochet lace ribbon and some pearls.

I have a couple of occasions coming up that this would be appropriate for so I will add my sentiment when I’ve decided.

I hope you will join us at Chocolate, Coffee and Cards. It’s a great sketch and so easy to follow. Check out the blog for all the wonderful DT inspiration and play along!

See ya!

Love is in the Air at MilkCoffee

Well love is most certainly in the air because I have new followers. Wow, thank you so much. I feel very honoured that you would join me.

So, here I am again with my DT post for the MilkCoffeeShowcase and the showcase theme today is Love is in the Air.  All together now, awwwwwwwh! And what could be more romantic than the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet. Yeah I know they die in the end but……..

These new images of Romeo & Juliet are available here.

No, that does not say Romeo and Janet!  Get you gone to Specsavers, forsooth!

They are so beautiful and I knew just how I was going to use them almost immediately. I love it when that happens.

So I really took the whole Romeo & Juliet theme to heart after finding some 12 x 12” paper that just happened to have some of the words from the play printed on it.  What a find!

I coloured Romeo & Juliet with Spectrum Noirs and fussy cut them.

The teardrop on her cheek is to hide the ink smudge that happened while colouring, in case you were wondering what that was. J

I then made a book using Spellbinders Curved Rectangles. I cut brown card for the base then found the opening from Romeo & Juliet on the web, copied and printed it out in brown using the Blackadder ITC font on my computer. I then shrunk it to fit onto the pages, also cut from the SB die.  To hide the join in the middle I made a bookmark from ribbon.

I wanted to include a quill and inkwell, as they are very iconic to Shakespeare, so I sharpened the end of a feather and coloured it with my black SN marker adding drips of ink for effect!  The inkwell is in fact a teacup from a Hunkydory kit that I cut to shape.

The rose is a new Create a Rose die from SB I got a few days ago. Tricky to assemble and I am not too happy with the result but then this was my first attempt. Practice, practice, practice methinks!!

The quote (and this is how pernickety I am) is actually a line spoken by Romeo in the play. I’m not that well-read by the way, I’m just best friends with Mr Google.

It is going to be an anniversary card for a friend of mine & his wife who are both a bit posh and like their Shakespeare. Forsooth!

So there you go. Hope you’re all loved up now!

Check out all the amazing designs by my team mates here and visit the MilkCoffee shop to see all the fantastic images they have.  You’ll fall in love! J

See ya!

January Blues at the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog

Hello!  Happy Monday! Hope this finds you well.

Today launches the first challenge for 2014 over on the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog and our theme is January Blues. Sounds quite sad doesn’t it but what we want is for you to use shades of blue on your creation, simple eh!

This week we are lucky to have two wonderful sponsors. The first is Just Some Lines

Who are offering 4 images of the randomly chosen winner’s choice from their online store!

And we welcome back to the Cutie Pies

Who are offering a £10 voucher for their online store to our DT chosen winner!
Wowser!

We had some wonderful images to play with this fortnight and I chose to use Emo Snowflake, and as I half expected the country to be covered in snow by now I thought it would be appropriate.  Hmmmm! Oh well I went with it anyway.

I typed out the 1st verse of a poem I remember from when I was a girl (many, many, many years ago) and printed that out along with the image onto watercolour card.  I also used the free snowflake design  that Just Some Lines have available in their shop and copied and resized multiple times to create a background.  I coloured with my Derwent Inktense Pencils (best Christmas present ever but just wish they had come with a nice big box of ‘skill’ as well) and added Stickles for a frosty sparkle.

Pearls and a bow were my final touch but I wasn’t happy so I used a Spellbinder die to add a frame and dotted all over the place with blue liquid pearls.

Why don’t you join in and play along with the cutest challenge in the land! Wander over to the Cutie Pies blog  to see all the fabulous cute inspiration from my teamies and get those January Blues, but in a good way.

Have a fabby crafty day!

MilkCoffee Showcase – Anything but a Card

Good morning, hope you are well and not amongst those poor souls caught up in the atrocious weather conditions we’ve had in the UK.  I send all good wishes to you all.

It is showcase day today over on the MilkCoffee Blog and our theme this time is Anything but a Card.

So what did I do?  Good question. Well I did struggle with this one a little as I am a card maker through and through but I am also a keen baker. Oh yes I can throw cake batter into a cake tin with the best of them and so, to preserve my favourite cookbook from my floury fingers  I decided to make some recipes cards and a box to store them in.

Thankfully I found a template in an old magazine and as it fitted nicely onto a sheet of A4 it was easy to construct. I used my Centura Pearl as it is the strongest card I own and once I had stuck the thing together I matted papers from the LOTV Always and Forever paper pad onto dark pink card.

The image is the gorgeous Charlotte and her Strawberry Pudding, see her in the MilkCoffee shop here, coloured with Spectrum Noirs.

The computer generated ‘RECIPES’ was cut using a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner die and the little cupcake is made from a Martha Stewart mould.  Isn’t it dinky!  Barely a mouthful though!! :)

The box is quite small so I used a die to cut the cards to go inside which I will laminate at a later date.

If you have a moment visit the MilkCoffee blog to see all the amazing creations by my fellow teamies.  And to the shop to check out all the gorgeous images, where you will be spoilt for choice!

See ya!

Ladybug Crafts Challenge – Give Thanks!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  (Sorry if that was a bit too loud!)

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too, and that Santa brought you lots of crafty goodness.  I know that he was very good to me, bless him!

I am here to show a card I made for the new monthly challenge starting today over on the Ladybug Crafts blog and the challenge is ‘Give Thanks’, and I have plenty to be thankful for.

I made this card to say thank you to my step-niece for her thoughtful Christmas gift.  I chose to use the image Thank You (rather appropriate I thought) from Saturated Canary which you can find as a digi here and I coloured her with Derwent Inktense Pencils (guess what I got for Christmas!).

The flowers are a combination of Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters and Tonic punches with flat back pearls in the centres.

The banner and corner are from Tattered Lace.

And there you go. Have a fabulous crafty New Years day!

See ya!
